Dedicated Project Teams
Gen5 Group delivers innovation services through dedicated teams of professional innovators, composed primarily of scientists and engineers (over 70 percent of Gen5 staff are PhD's). Typically, each project is led by a Partner responsible for ensuring the successful completion of the work and overseeing the project team selected from a pool of innovation experts, designers, researchers, information specialists, and IP specialists.
Subject Matter Experts
During the course of a project, Gen5 has the ability to seamlessly expand and contract the make-up of the team by tapping the resources of the firm's privately managed network of subject matter experts. As the discovery process unfolds and capability needs are understood, the team may consult with experts on an as needed basis. The nature of the interaction will vary by project, but could include technical consultation, theoretical advice, or numerical and/or physical experiments. But on each project, it is the Gen5 team that is responsible for developing solutions to meet the goals of the project.
Confidentiality
All work is carried out on a confidential basis. In addition to standard confidentiality agreements, Gen5 secures an extra level of confidentiality through its functional approach. Gen5's functional approach enables the team to work with experts in general terms without revealing the specific applications, products, or names of our clients. Experts that consult with a Gen5 team are not exposed to the full objective and scope of the project work.
IP Ownership
On every Gen5 project, the client owns any IP that may result from the work. If patent applications are submitted, Gen5 scientists may be the inventors on the patent, but the client will be the assignee. Gen5 can prepare the technical documentation and may serve as technical advisors to the client's legal team to ensure the ideas are properly understood and interpreted for purposes of the patent application. Gen5 may sometimes also suggest language to help strengthen the application.
